Ok so today we went to see The Women...... Totally worth it! Loved it!
The movie has the perfect ingredients needed to make a successful chick flick; comedy and drama; lots and lots of drama.
This film is about five friends with very different personalities who go through very difficult times when their loyalty as a friend is tested due to a series of events. These women’s challenge is to try to fix this problem.
As for the performances they were also great. I was so happy to see Meg Ryan back doing what she does best…. girly movies. GOD I MISSED HER! The rest of the actresses also did great. Every role was very independent; but they needed each other at the same time. The characters didn't have to be on screen all the time to play a great part in the movie.
Director Diane English portrayed five different women with very different personalities. And the great part about this is that every women can relate to any of characters of the movie.
Meg Ryan plays Mary Haines, a rich NY woman whose life is shadowed by her business-man husband until she realizes what has become of her life and decides to take a step forward.
Annette Bening is Silvie Fowler, a successful dedicated woman who’s never been married because she dedicated her entire life to her fabulous job as the editor of a fashion magazine.
Eva Mendes is the Chrytal Allen the perfume girl at Saks Fifth Ave who sleeps her way through getting money and expensive gifts. Typical gold digger, home wrecker who doesn’t care about anything but herself.
Debra Messing plays Edie Cohen a stay home mom of 4 kids with a very hectic life. This is one of the most down to earth character in this movie.
Jada Pinkett Smith is Alex Fisher an unsuccessful writer. Very outspoken and a strong character in the film.
The film is a very down to earth drama (not too dramatic, but not too fairy tale either) it just presents day to day situations on every women’s life.
So if you are in the mood for a girly chick flick, I recommend you call your friends and get a girls night out and go watch the movie.
xoxo
